With an estimated +200,000 attendees, the Innovation Garage at the CNE concluded with a finalist pitch competition of startup tech companies.
Over $65K was provided to entrepreneurs throughout the event ($5K per round and $25K for the final round). Some of the technologies showcased throughout the competition included artificial intelligence, blockchain, robots. Industries covered within the competition were healthcare, education, insurance, financial services, and numerous others. Pycap CEO Stuart Browne was happy to play a role judging 3 rounds, including the final round, as well as presenting a cash prize to one of the winners. In the end it was the Sobie Systems that reigned supreme with its household product used to provide air purification as well as detect carbon monoxide.

At the entrance of the CNE’s Innovation Garage, and amidst augmented reality, virtual reality, robots, artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency technologies was Pycap Venture Partner’s booth. In addition to providing information about Pycap’s VC Firm and Venture Finance Courses at UofT, the booth showcased Pyap’s new portfolio company and its disruptive blockchain and cloud-mining technology.
The Innovation Garage is an exhibition at the CNE that displays over a hundred companies providing live demonstrations of their technologies. The three-day event also includes an Emerging Innovators Pitch Competition where imaginative and inspiring inventors compete for prize money of $25,000. The space also includes Maker Spaces, Interactive Displays and a Robot Battlefield. |
