SICIEEIL, UofT accelerator Collaborates with Pycap’s Startup Visa Program
SICIEEIL University of Toronto & Pycap Startup Visa Collaboration
We’re excited to announce a new collaboration between SICIEEIL and Pycap to expand startup support across the Eastern GTA!
The Sam Ibrahim Centre for Inclusive Excellence in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Leadership (SICIEEIL) at the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus (UTSC) is a UofT accelerator dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs. Established through a transformative $25 million donation from proud Scarborough entrepreneur and UTSC alum, Sam Ibrahim, SICIEEIL builds on UTSC's strong legacy of innovation. As of 2024, SICIEEIL has supported over 150 startups, with a significant focus on inclusive entrepreneurship: 65% of founders identify as visible minorities and 52% as female-identified. Our portfolio spans high-impact sectors like ICT & Digital Media, Health & Wellness, and EdTech, and we continue to deliver robust training, programming, and events while launching new initiatives to shape the future of entrepreneurship at UTSC and beyond.
Through this partnership, we’re opening up new opportunities for startups affiliated with Pycap’s Startup Visa Program to access SICIEEIL’s programming and facilities, including mentorship, business development workshops, and funding pathways through our Level-Up series and other entrepreneurial supports.
The Startup Visa Program is a federal initiative that allows innovative entrepreneurs from around the world to establish permanent residency in Canada by building high-growth businesses that contribute to the local economy. As a designated entity, Pycap provides these entrepreneurs with business incubation, investment readiness training, and ecosystem access. This new collaboration with SICIEEIL significantly expands that support by embedding Startup Visa participants into a university-based innovation environment—connecting them to academic expertise, a broader network of community and institutional partners, and localized programming tailored to the Eastern GTA. This deepens their integration into Canada’s startup ecosystem and strengthens their long-term success in the region.
Together, we’re committed to:
Startup Access & Program Integration: Enhancing startup journeys through shared resources and programming.
Mutual Promotion & Ecosystem Visibility: Co-promoting startups and success stories across events, digital channels, and showcases.
Ecosystem Strengthening: Supporting diverse founders and fostering an inclusive innovation ecosystem across Scarborough and the broader Eastern GTA.
We look forward to working with Pycap to drive impact, collaboration, and inclusive innovation.
Stay tuned for application details—and get ready to take your venture to the next level with SICIEEIL x Pycap!
