Bernhardt Garlipp, CEO of GoodX, a healthcare technology company, was recently awarded a Work Permit to establish and expand his business in Canada through Pycap’s Federal Government Designated Startup Visa Incubator.
GoodX Healthcare LTD is committed to helping healthcare practices and staff to deliver timely and effective patient care. The GoodX Software Practice Management System (web-based) is a complete and unified web application for every role in the medical practice. We serve all practice sizes, from smaller practices to large medical centres and hospitals. Our comprehensive software facilitates the daily physician’s practice workflow from diary functions with flexible scheduling to simplified billing, customizable clinical notes, insightful reporting, health insurance claims, and easy-to-use patient relationship management tools. GoodX is currently used by more than 5000 practices in more than seven countries. Bernhardt attended school in Centurion, South Africa. While actively participating in most sports activities (field hockey, cricket and long-distance running) he primarily focused on his chess prowess. He yearly placed in the Top 10 at the Junior South African Chess Championships. He continues to actively participate in his local chess club (Centurion Chess Club), where he has also been both the Senior and Junior Club Champion. At school he participated in mathematics, science and computer science olympiads. To this day he still enjoys tinkering around with electronics and computers. Bernhardt loves reading anything from sci-fi to self-improvement books. Bernhardt believes that one should give back to your community and as such he’s been a trustee/board member of a number of organizations. Currently, he is mentoring ex-colleagues in leadership and technical skills. BERNHARDT GARLIPP - Master of Science in Computing (in progress), Bachelor of Science in Computing (Honours), Bachelor of Science in Computing, SAP ABAP/4 Nine years of part-time Business Management experience and over three years of full-time Executive Management experience. A further ten years of mid-level management and development experience in a variety of environments, with numerous medical, billing, stock and management software projects under the belt, in which he’s been the project lead for most of them. Bernhardt has been involved in a number of industries before settling down in the medical industry for the last 10 years. In his early career he started off in the automotive industry as a SAP consultant working for Jaguar Land Rover SA, after which he transitioned into web development and management for a startup, The South African Space Resources Association. From an idealistic point of view, the vision of GoodX Healthcare is to improve medical care for both the practitioner and the patient. By expanding into the Canadian market, GoodX Healthcare has the unique opportunity to leverage our innovative products to a larger market, allowing us to improve the overall quality of medical care provided. From a practical point of view, the Canadian medical market provides us with a three to four times larger market compared to South Africa. Seeing as 7% of all immigrant medical practitioners are ex-South Africans in Canada, we have a unique opportunity to leverage being South Africans. Our main aim will however always be to improve the medical care industry and cross pollination between markets will be required to improve this industry for all involved. On Nov. 8, 2022 Pycap CEO Stuart Browne conducted a presentation to the Open Data Summit in Whitehorse, Yukon. Stuart's presentation highlighted the importance and use of data access and analysis when making financial management decisions related to venture growth and investment.
The Canadian Open Data Summit (CODS), now evolving into the Canadian Open Data Society has been the annual event where the most pressing challenges facing the open data community are addressed on a national stage. Advocates from all sectors have come together to share best practices and local experiences, learn from top international experts, and grow the community strategically and collaboratively. CODS is one of a suite of strong open data events and organizations across Canada, all of which demonstrate that the Canadian Open community has been rapidly gaining momentum over the past year. Overlapping circles of passionate citizens across Canada meet regularly to create partnerships, among them advancing two exciting near-term deliverables: the Open Hub, a web portal/clearinghouse for Open information in Canada, now in alpha, soon to be at http://ouropenhub.ca ; and a non-profit member-based entity to steer future CODS. In addition, GO Open Data (the Ontario Open Data annual summit) is in its seventh year, there are efforts to federate open portals such as that in Niagara, and in May Canada hosted the Global Summit of the Open Government Partnership and many sister events. These are exciting times for the open movement. CODS has been and remains a grassroots, community-led event. It began in 2013 in British Columbia. The volunteer national organizing committee decided in 2019 to incorporate and co-found the Canadian Open Data Society. On November 2, 2022, Pycap was featured at the Canada Chapter of 2022 Shenzhen Global Investment Promotion Conference with a Keynote Speech provided by Pycap CEO Stuart Browne.

At the event, Stuart was also joined by Mr. Godwin Chan, York Regional Councillor/Deputy Mayor of City of Richmond Hill and Mr. Michael Chan, York Regional Councillor/Deputy Mayor of City of Markham who gave speeches about the benefits of their respective towns. The Canada Chapter of 2022 Shenzhen Global Investment Promotion Conference was co-organized by SCI Innovation Centre and the North American Representative Office of Shenzhen. The Canada Chapter states that Shenzhen, as an important trade and gateway to China, attaches great importance to economic, trade and technology cooperation with Canada and has decided to establish an economic and trade liaison office in Canada based on existing SCi Innovation platform to strengthen cooperation with Shenzhen and Canada. This event launched the Shenzhen Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) in Canada and provided an opportunity for attendees to build connections with business partners, manufacturers and investor in Shenzhen. Canada Chapter of 2022 Shenzhen Global Investment Promotion Conference is an annual conference and networking event, which promotes the City of Shenzhen and give Canadian companies with an international perspective the opportunity to share their success stories to the local Canadian audience and the relevant Shenzhen media. Surprising trend for South Africans moving to Canada
BusinessTech A surprising trend is emerging on the South African emigration scene: female entrepreneurs are leading the pack when it comes to business immigration applications. According to Nicholas Avramis, a licensed Canadian immigration from Beaver Immigration, female business owners make up more than half of the applications for Canadian business visas. “In the last two years, we have noticed that more and more inquiries and application filings are coming from South African females. They are leveraging their innovative ideas and talents to immigrate to Canada.” According to Avramis, the only licensed Canadian consultant based in South Africa, Canada’s Start-Up Visa program is the go-to visa program for immigrant entrepreneurs; it is also ideal for female innovators. Canada’s Start-up visa program is designed to attract immigrant entrepreneurs from around the world who have innovative business ideas, have the potential to create Canadian jobs and can compete on a global scale. Unlike most other investor programs, the Start-Up Visa program does not have a mandatory minimum investment obligation. The Government of Canada is rather interested in the innovative idea that the immigrant entrepreneur wants to launch in Canada. With access to capital being a major constraint for most innovators, the Start-Up Visa takes this major hurdle out of the equation for entrepreneurs. One such innovator is Dr Shanaz Khan from Cape Town, South Africa. With over 25 years of experience as a dentist, she was accepted into the Start-up Visa program earlier this year through the support of Pycap, a Canadian business incubator that is authorized to support immigrant entrepreneurs’ applications for permanent residency in Canada. As a successful entrepreneur – owning and operating multiple dental practices in Cape Town – Dr. Khan wanted to focus her efforts on treating Airway-Centered Disorders (ACD) through the revolutionary practice known as airway dentistry. Khan says, “I have had this idea to create a digital app that will allow health care professionals to collaboratively treat the cause of a patient’s maxillofacial problems, rather than just treating the symptoms through costly dental surgery.” Stuart Browne, CEO of Pycap, will work with Khan to hatch her business innovation when she arrives in Toronto later this year with her entire family. “Our registered business incubator has welcomed several South African start-ups this year, with a number of them being female. Beyond the fact that the South Africans we’ve met are hardworking and have a deep desire to succeed, their transition into Canada should be smooth as they seem to easily assimilate into our business culture.” Pycap will provide Dr. Khan with hands-on support by offering marketing, technology, financial management, industry research, and guidance on accessing capital in Canada. According to the most recent government statistics from Immigration, Refuge and Citizenship Canada(IRCC), between 2015 to 2021, the ratio between male versus female entrepreneurs admitted into the permanent residency program is close to equal. According to Avramis, this should not be a surprise as the Canadian federal government has a history of promoting female entrepreneurship. Avramis says, “when it comes to immigration as a whole, it is typically the female of the household who is pushing the matter for the family. https://businesstech.co.za/news/wealth/630377/surprising-trend-for-south-africans-moving-to-canada/ Congratulations to Allan Grace of AeroPhysX, one of only three companies in the world that offers drone-based geophysics and geospatial technology.
Beaver Immigration worked with the AeroPhysX team to secure a letter of support and commitment certificate from Pycap, a Canadian designated organization. All three founders received their work permits and permanent residency through the Start-Up Visa program.
